Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a Civil Engineer for municipal and land development projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • EIT certification preferred or eligible to obtain within one year.
  • Experience supporting civil engineering projects through coursework or internships.
  • Strong problem-solving, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Review development plans for public infrastructure like stormwater, utilities, and roadways.
  • Assist with field observations and inspections to confirm plan compliance.
  • Prepare quantities, estimates, and documentation for roadway projects.
  • Support bid packages with technical details and specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors and clients to address design questions.
  • Maintain project records and track schedules and budgets.

Job description

This position supports municipal and land development projects by contributing to the planning, review, and construction oversight of public and private infrastructure improvements. The engineer collaborates with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients to help move projects from concept through completion.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the review of development plans related to public infrastructure, including stormwater management, utilities, roadway design, and site access improvements
  • Assist with field observations and inspections for development projects and residential construction to confirm compliance with approved plans
  • Prepare and support construction quantities, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for roadway maintenance and small-scale capital improvement projects
  • Contribute to bid packages by assisting with technical details, quantities, and specifications
  • Coordinate with contractors and project partners to address design questions and construction-related issues
  • Build familiarity with state DOT standards and municipal agency requirements through hands‑on project involvement
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, schedules, and deliverables to supervisors and project teams
  • Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders to communicate progress and respond to questions
  • Support project budgeting efforts and assist with tracking costs and schedules
  • Work within established quality control procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy across project deliverables
  • Maintain organized project records and documentation
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support department goals
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred, or ability to obtain within one year
  • Prior experience supporting civil engineering projects through coursework, internships, or professional roles preferred
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage tasks independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Reliable work habits and consistent availability
  • Exposure to engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Comfortable communicating with technical teams, clients, and contractors
