Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of civil/structural experience in industrial facilities.
• Active Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with engineering design software.

Responsibilities

• Provide civil and structural support for capital and maintenance projects across refinery and chemical facilities.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to support capital and maintenance projects at a large refinery and chemical manufacturing complex in Port Arthur, Texas. This position is responsible for providing technical assurance, engineering oversight, and detailed civil/structural engineering support for a broad range of facility improvement and infrastructure projects. Typical projects include structural steel systems, reinforced concrete foundations, process equipment support structures, industrial buildings, pipe racks, drainage systems, roads, marine facilities, and utility infrastructure.

The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource, collaborating with project teams, operations personnel, construction teams, and external engineering contractors to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide civil and structural engineering support for capital and maintenance projects across refinery and chemical processing facilities.
• Review, evaluate, and approve engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and design packages developed by external engineering firms.
• Participate in project team meetings, design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical discussions throughout all phases of project execution.
• Develop and recommend practical engineering solutions that meet safety, reliability, operational, and cost objectives.
• Design and evaluate structural steel systems, concrete foundations, equipment supports, pipe racks, access platforms, and related infrastructure.
• Provide engineering support during construction activities and assist with field issue resolution when required.
• Interpret geotechnical reports, topographic surveys, subsurface investigations, and crane lift plans.
• Evaluate constructability and identify potential design, installation, or operational concerns before project execution.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and local engineering service providers.
• Provide status updates and technical recommendations to project managers and leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of civil and structural engineering experience supporting industrial facilities.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, active and current in the State of Texas.
• Experience supporting refinery, petrochemical, chemical processing, or similar heavy industrial facilities.
• Strong understanding of industrial structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with engineering design software and standard computer applications.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize company-specific software and internal systems.
