Civil Engineer / Project Manager – Land Development

Description

Weinberg Engineering, LLC is seeking an experienced Civil Professional Engineer to join our growing civil engineering team in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

We specialize in residential and commercial land development and provide civil engineering services for residential, commercial, and municipal site development projects. Our established client base is primarily in Washington State, and we are expanding our presence along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Civil Engineer / Project Manager will serve as a lead engineer for Mississippi projects and will be responsible for managing projects from initial concept and design through permitting and construction.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical judgment with the ability to independently manage projects, communicate directly with clients and permitting agencies, and provide direction to project staff.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to take meaningful ownership of projects and play an important role in building and growing a civil engineering practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering and land development projects from concept through permitting and construction
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations
• Serve as the primary day-to-day engineering contact for assigned clients and projects
• Design and oversee residential and commercial site development projects
• Prepare and review grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, roadway, and site development plans
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents
• Interpret and apply Mississippi state and local development regulations, permitting requirements, and engineering standards
• Coordinate with surveyors, geotechnical engineers, architects, environmental consultants, utility providers, contractors, permitting agencies, and other consultants
• Respond to agency review comments and coordinate permit resubmittals
• Attend meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and permitting agencies
• Review project deliverables for technical accuracy, quality, and completeness
• Provide direction and technical guidance to drafting staff
• Coordinate with drafting staff to establish project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Assist with construction administration and resolution of field issues as needed
• Maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and quality project delivery
• Identify project issues early and develop practical engineering solutions
• Help establish and improve internal design standards, templates, workflows, and project management processes
• Mentor and support developing engineering and design staff
• Collaborate with our team on projects in Washington State and other locations as needed

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of civil engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mississippi required
• Experience with residential and/or commercial land development
• Strong understanding of grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, roadway, and site development
• Strong working knowledge of Mississippi state and local development requirements and permitting processes
• Experience managing civil engineering projects from design through permitting and/or construction
• Experience communicating directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to provide direction and oversight to engineering and drafting staff
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred
