Job summary

PTS Advance in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Transportation Civil Designer to develop detailed design drawings and construction documents for transportation projects. You will use ORD, OBM, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, interpreting sketches and producing complete drawing packages.

Collaborate with engineers and designers, ensure compliance with standards, coordinate electrical systems integration, and maintain CAD standards while mentoring junior drafters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or related field with 7+ years of experience, OR

Responsibilities

• Develop, produce, and modify detailed design drawings and construction documents using ORD, OBM, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Interpret sketches and markups to independently produce complete drawing packages.
• Prepare and revise plan sets, profiles, details, and plot drawings for submittals.
• Apply CAD standards to ensure consistency and quality across deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, PMs and other disciplines throughout the design process.
• Coordinate the integration of electrical systems into project designs.
• Maintain CAD standards, templates, and libraries to improve drafting efficiency.
• Identify design conflicts and propose practical solutions.
• Perform quality control reviews for complete and accurate drawings.
• Incorporate redlines, field markups, and as-built updates.
• Support CAD workflow improvement initiatives.

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Civil Designer to join our growing team and support multidisciplinary engineering projects. This role is ideal for a highly skilled designer with strong experience in transportation, civil infrastructure, and electrical projects.

The Transportation Civil Designer will play a key role in developing high-quality design and drafting deliverables while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with client and industry standards.

What You'll Do

• Develop, produce, and modify detailed design drawings and construction documents using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), OpenBridge Designer (OBM), Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design concepts to independently produce complete and accurate drawing packages.
• Prepare and revise plan sets, profiles, details, and plot drawings for design submittals and construction documentation.
• Apply company, client, and industry CAD standards to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and other disciplines throughout the design process.
• Coordinate the integration of electrical systems into overall project designs.
• Maintain and utilize CAD standards, templates, and detail libraries to improve drafting efficiency.
• Identify design conflicts and inconsistencies and proactively recommend practical solutions.
• Perform quality control reviews to ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and compliant with project requirements.
• Incorporate redlines, field markups, and as-built documentation updates.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving CAD workflows, standards, and best practices.
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior drafters and team members as needed.
• Support additional project responsibilities as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and project requirements.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following experience and education requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field and 7+ years of related experience; OR
• Associate degree and 8+ years of related experience; OR
• 9+ years of progressive detailing and design experience.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency with design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel.
• Strong experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenBridge Designer (OBM).
• Expert knowledge of civil design principles, calculations, and design systems.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering theory and practices.
• Ability to understand fundamental concepts of other engineering disciplines and coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other team members.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
