Job summary

Spencer Ogden seeks a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with extensive nuclear industry experience to lead design changes across piping, supports, and foundation systems. You will develop engineering scopes, perform evaluations, and coordinate with project teams to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires 10+ years in nuclear engineering, BSCE or equivalent, and the ability to obtain nuclear facility access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear industry, including experience preparing civil/structural design modifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility, including training and security clearances.
• Strong oral and written communication skills within a professional environment.
• Skilled in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and presenting them.
• Experience with standard nuclear industry design processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop scope, design inputs, technical evaluations, installation instructions, and testing requirements for design change packages across piping, supports, equipment mounting, and seismic/foundation considerations.
• Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and provide recommended options to project teams.
• Provide ongoing support for design changes through work order reviews, corrective actions, and field installation support.
• Develop or revise design specifications and technical requirement documents to support design changes.
• Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by design changes.
• Develop safety screens and evaluations supporting design changes.
• Revise site design basis documents, drawings, and regulatory documents affected by design changes.
• Exercise sound technical judgment and provide engineering guidance to project teams.
• All work reviewed and verified by a qualified engineer and approved by management.

• Provide ongoing support for assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
• Develop or revise design specifications and technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
• Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
• Develop safety screens and evaluations supporting engineering design changes.
• Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear industry, including experience preparing civil/structural design modifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility, including completion of General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, security clearance checks, and compliance with the site’s Fitness for Duty Program.
• Strong oral and written communication skills within a professional environment.
• Skilled in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
