Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Laborer to assist Laborer Journeyman with material handling, preparing work areas, assembling and dismantling equipment, and cleaning machines and spaces on construction sites.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and the ability to operate or assist with hand and power tools. Applicants should have construction experience, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and be willing to travel per project requirements. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment
• Prepare, handle, and supply materials and tools to be used by other crafts
• Clean work area, machines, and equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend motor and grout: lift, unload, move, set, and shovel between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and loading or burning of debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Willingness to travel per project needs and requirements
• All other duties as assigned
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs will be done with assistance of another team member or equipment.
