Job description

Armand Corporation, an award-winning M/WBE Construction Management firm celebrating over 33 years in the industry, is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector for a federal construction project related to complex rail, transit, and other transportation projects in NY & NJ.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on marine ports, ground stabilization, cofferdams, and adjacent civil construction.

If selected, candidates will need to provide digital proof of licensure and certification for all U.S.-based accolades, including academic degree, before time of interview. Information provided is handled with discretion and will be used purely for benefit of employment with various government agency clients and associated background checks.

This position will be full-time, on-site. Candidates are expected to live in or near the New York metropolitan area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform daily site inspections of excavation, shaft activities, and linear construction within wetlands, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and engineering plans.
  • Verify that excavation practices align with design requirements for marine ports, ground stabilization, cofferdams, tunnels, railways construction, and coordinate independent testing.
  • Enforce safety standards on-site, including adherence to OSHA and other regulatory safety protocols, and identify potential safety hazards, especially in areas adjacent to active railroad right of way and multiple railroad bridges over vehicular roads.
  • Inspect materials and equipment used for excavation, tunneling, and viaduct construction, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and document any deviations or deficiencies.
  • Maintain detailed records of daily work activities, site conditions, and inspection results, and provide regular reports on progress and corrective actions taken, ensuring documentation aligns with project requirements.
  • Other related duties and tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Experience working within multiple concurrent projects.
  • 10 or more years of experience in construction supervision/inspection.
  • Experience in performing site inspections and verifying work according to specifications and drawings, including linear construction within wetlands and multiple railroad bridges over vehicular roads.
  • OSHA 10 at minimum (additional training will be provided, if required).
  • Ability to pass a TWIC and/or SWAC Background Check at High Level.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken).
