Civil/Construction Engineer

We are looking for a Civil/Construction Engineer with experience managing a broad range of construction projects. In this role you will perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of construction projects, manage client relationships, and contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.

Responsibilities
  • Review and assure project supervisor of the adequacy of budget and schedule.
  • Perform construction observation of activities and follow applicable project procedures.
  • Perform measurements of construction work and quantity calculations of pay items.
  • Prepare Daily Work Reports, Engineer Diaries, and other project documentation as required.
  • Report to the project supervisor on progress, technical issues, status, and deficiencies.
  • Review plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work.
  • Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers.
  • Maintain company‑owned vehicle or other equipment assigned for use on the project.
  • Expand construction service lines in new market sectors by building relationships, mentoring staff, and serving in key project leadership roles.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • PE License or ability to obtain strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in a construction role desired; project leadership experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with State DOTs, cities, counties, or local municipalities preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization and ability to perform services efficiently within budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to work outside on foot for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to be flexible with variable work shifts during the work week.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license.
  • Collaborative approach that can mentor less experienced staff and build relationships with clients, other consultants, and contractors.
  • Ability and drive to support business development activities with new and existing clients to foster growth across service lines.
