Civil/Construction Engineer

We have a career opportunity for a Civil/Construction Engineer with a proven track record of successfully managing a broad range of construction projects. In this role you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of construction projects, as well as play an important role in managing client relationships. You will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.

Location

This position offers flexibility within the Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, and Northcentral regions of Wisconsin, being onsite for construction projects, and periodically reporting to our Wisconsin offices in Milwaukee, Neenah, and Madison.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Review and assure project supervisor of the adequacy of budget and schedule.
  • Perform construction observation of construction activities and follow applicable project procedures.
  • Perform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items.
  • Prepare Daily Work Reports, Engineer Diaries, and other project documentation as required by the project procedures and as directed by the project supervisor.
  • Report to the project supervisor on the progress of work, including technical issues, the status of work remaining to be done, and any noted deficiencies.
  • Review plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work.
  • Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers.
  • Maintain company-owned vehicle or other equipment assigned for use on the project.
  • Expand construction service lines in new market sectors by building relationships, mentoring staff, and serving in key project leadership roles.
What We Are Looking For
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • PE License or ability to obtain strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in a construction role is desired. Project leadership experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with State DOTs, cities, counties, or local municipalities preferred.
  • Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills.
  • Strong organization and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to work outside on foot for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to be flexible with variable work shifts during the work week.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Collaborative approach that can mentor less experienced staff and build relationships with the larger team, Clients, other Consultants, and the Contractor.
  • Ability and drive to support business development activities with new and existing clients to foster growth across service lines.
Benefits
  • Career growth that’s real with leadership development, training, and clear paths forward.
  • Strong financial future with up to 9% retirement contribution for benefit-eligible employees.
  • Flexibility that works with schedules that support your life.
  • Time to recharge with generous paid time off and parental leave for benefit-eligible employees.
  • Support beyond work through mentorship, hands‑on experience, and opportunities to make an impact from day one.

Whether you’re starting your career or bringing years of experience, you’ll have the support and exposure to grow here.
