Job summary

The City of Cheyenne seeks an Assistant City Attorney – Civil to build a versatile civil practice under the City Attorney’s supervision. This exempt role offers professional growth, good benefits, no billable hours, limited travel, and weekday hours.

You will handle a broad range of legal matters for the Mayor, City Council, and city departments, including civil enforcement and litigation support as needed.

Qualifications

• Active Wyoming State Bar license.
• 1–5 years of increasingly responsible experience in the practice of law.
• Knowledge of civil, criminal, constitutional and administrative law.

Responsibilities

• Perform general legal research using law libraries and other resources.
• Provide legal advice to the Mayor, City Council, City departments and boards.
• Prepare pleadings, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, leases, letters, memoranda.
• Represent the City in litigation before courts and administrative bodies.
• Assist with civil enforcement matters and recovery of abatement costs.
