Brown Industrial Construction (IMPACT) is seeking experienced Form Carpenters to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA. The role focuses on building and setting forms for concrete foundations, interpreting blueprints, and coordinating layout with precision.

Expect heavy manual labor in a dynamic civil construction environment. Responsibilities include tying rebar, creating batter boards, operating power tools, and assisting with concrete placement while adhering to safety standards and project

Qualifications

  • Experience reading blueprints and related drawings.
  • Ability to perform layout and material takeoffs from drawings.
  • Proficient in finish carpentry and form setting for concrete foundations.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and incident reporting.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools for heavy civil work.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, layout, and read tape, ruler and transits.
  • Perform tasks involving strenuous manual labor on heavy construction projects.
  • Set forms, anchor bolts, tie rebar, build scaffolding, and set screeds.
  • Assist in placing and finishing concrete.
  • Maintain site safety and report issues to foreman or safety director.

Brown Industrial Construction (IMPACT) is a South East Louisiana Based Heavy Civil Contractor Focusing Primarily On Clearing and Grubbing, Excavation, Drainage Infrastructure, Materials Placement, Soil Stabilization, Deep Foundations, & Civil Concrete work. We are seeking experienced Form Carpenters to join our growing team.

The Carpenter must have the knowledge and ability to build & set forms related to concrete foundation construction while maintaining relevant safety & quality standards. This includes, interpreting blueprints & related drawings, calculating material takeoffs from drawings, advanced layout, use of measure & level instruments, ability to use transit, provide finish carpentry work, install batter boards, use of simon forms, layout of anchor bolts, ability to tie rebar, build scaffold, set screeds, & ability to operate pneumatic and electric power tools.

  1. Read blueprints, layout, use level instruments & transits, & read tape/ruler
  2. Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
  3. Ability to perform all physical tasks involved in setting forms & anchor bolts, tying rebar, building scaffolding, perform finish carpentry, set screeds, install batter boards, & operate manual, pneumatic, & electric power tools.
  4. Assist in placing & finishing concrete.
  5. Is trained in rigging & safety harness use.
  6. Works from heights on various platform types.
  7. Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
  8. Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  9. Performs materials handling and storage.
  10. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
  11. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee works from platforms at height. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.
