Job summary

Turner Industries in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an experienced Civil Carpenter to build, install, and repair structures and formwork in heavy civil and commercial projects.

You will read blueprints, lay out materials, construct frameworks, install floors, doors, and finish hardware, while maintaining safety, quality, and on-site coordination.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience in heavy civil or commercial construction carpentry and concrete finishing.
• Skilled at using hand tools, power saws, levels, and measuring devices.
• NCCER certification may be required at some job sites
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches or structural plans for information pertaining to the type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
• Prepare layouts including lines and grades; marks cutting and assembly lines on materials; shapes materials to prescribed measurements.
• Erects framework for structures and lays sub-flooring; builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work.
• Covers sub-floor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet and wood-strip-block floors; fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware.
• Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete; erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures; fabricates from work then loads, hauls, and carries it to the job site and installs per drawings.
• Places and finishes concrete in formwork and sets and aligns form panels; sets grout forms for epoxy and cement grout.
• May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; lifting 30 to 50 pounds; working in heat/cold and loud environments

Turner Industries Group is looking for experiencedCivilCarpenter for work in the Baton Rouge, LA area. This position constructs, erects, installs, fabricates, dismantles and repairs structures, formwork and fixtures of wood, metal forms and associated accessories, and interpret project drawings, blueprints, and grade specifications to lay out work accurately.
