Job summary

Diamond D Industries, a leading woman-owned heavy construction specialist based in South Louisiana, is seeking a Civil Carpenter to construct, erect, repair, and dismantle forms and structures for concrete works.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, measuring and assembling forms, and ensuring safety and quality on site. The role requires OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it, and the ability to work with hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret specifications.
• Proficient in using hand and power tools.
• Solid understanding of civil carpenter principles and methods.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Must pass drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates good work practices through compliance and support for all site safety and health rules and guidelines.
• Reviews construction drawings, sketches, building plans, and specifications for information pertaining to requirements and dimensions.
• Measures, marks, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Cuts and shapes wood, concrete, and other construction materials using hand and power tools.
• Assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs structures, including concrete forms, frameworks and other components of heavy civil infrastructure.
• Joins materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple or adhesive.
• Ensures accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares, and corrects problems as needed.
• Creates wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, building foundations, sewer construction projects or large industrial structures.
• May spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel or screed and float.
• Knowledge of construction terminology.
• Basic rigging knowledge.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment and maintains job site housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by their supervisors.

Civil Carpenter

The civil carpenter is responsible for constructing, erecting, repairing, and dismantling built‑in‑place or prefabricated forms for concrete structures or foundations, pouring and finishing of concrete, in a safe and quality manner.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand‑eye coordination.
