Civil Carpenter

The civil carpenter is responsible for constructing, erecting, repairing, and dismantling built-in-place or prefabricated forms for concrete structures or foundations, pouring and finishing of concrete, in a safe and quality manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates good work practices through compliance and support for all site safety and health rules and guidelines.
  • Reviews construction drawings, sketches, building plans, and specifications for information pertaining to requirements and dimensions.
  • Measures, marks, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Cuts and shape wood, concrete, and other construction materials using hand and power tools.
  • Assemble, install, maintain, and repair structures, including concrete forms, frameworks and other components of heavy civil infrastructure.
  • Joins materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple or adhesive.
  • Ensures accuracy or work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares, and corrects problems as needed.
  • Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, building foundations, sewer construction projects or large industrial structures.
  • May spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel or screed and float.
  • Knowledge of construction terminology.
  • Basic rigging knowledge.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment and maintains job site housekeeping.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by their supervisors.

  • Successful candidates must complete a drug screening and background check prior to employment.
