Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) is seeking an Engineering Drafter to produce mechanical, electrical, structural, and topographical drawings. You will work under supervision in the Engineering Drafting Group, using CAD and hybrid software from sketches and catalogs, and ensure adherence to standards.

The role requires four years of AutoCAD-drafted experience and a valid driver's license, with a focus on accuracy, neatness, and reliability in a team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with four years of drafting experience including AutoCAD.
• Two years of experience as Engineer Drafter 3rd Class or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Must be accurate, neat, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical, electrical, structural and topographical drawings using CAD or Hybrid Software from sketches, outlines, drawings or catalogs.
• Draft to company and national standards (symbols, nomenclature, engineering terms, etc.).
• Assist in drafting work of higher classifications and select equipment/materials for projects.
• Revise or complete drawings from marked-up prints per briefing.
• Prepare material lists and specifications.
• Assist in training lower-classification drafters and check their work.
• Interpret engineering drawings accurately and make field measurements and sketches.
• Verify manufacturers drawings and specifications.
• Perform simple engineering calculations and tabulations.
• Maintain an accurate daily log of work performed.
