Job summary

Freese and Nichols in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Designer specializing in AutoCAD Civil 3D to join the Dams and Levees Team. You will produce 3D models and drawings for dams, levees, and water resources projects, working with engineers and project managers.

Hybrid work up to 40% remote; responsibilities include translating markups, applying CAD standards, training staff, and leading CAD activities to deliver accurate designs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience using Autodesk Civil 3D
• Advanced expertise in CAD software
• Ability to learn, adapt, and problem solve to produce accurate deliverables
• Experience leading CAD activities and mentoring staff

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models, drawings, and details for dam, levee, and water resource projects
• Use survey data to build accurate 3D surfaces, cross-sections, and alignments
• Translate sketches and redlines into precise CAD deliverables
• Collaborate with engineers to produce construction plans and technical drawings
• Apply CAD standards and update templates, styles, blocks, and processes
• Conduct quality control reviews on models and data for accuracy and compliance
• Train and mentor CAD staff and engineers in drawing production
• Lead CAD activities on assigned projects and coordinate workload

Freese and Nichols is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Designer experienced in AutoCAD Civil 3D to join our Dams and Levees Team in our Houston, Texas office.
