Job summary

MECO Engineering in Pittsfield, IL is seeking an Engineering Technician to support project engineers by preparing design drawings, technical exhibits, and project documentation for municipal and public works projects. The ideal candidate has strong Civil 3D skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a small team, delivering accurate drawings and reports on schedule.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D (3+ years experience preferred).
• Experience preparing civil engineering plans (municipal or public works a plus).
• Strong drafting standards, layering, and plan production.
• Ability to interpret sketches, instructions, and redlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings using Civil 3D, including site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, and drainage design.
• Assist in drafting, design revisions, and production of construction documents.
• Support project engineers with modeling surfaces, corridors, pipe networks, and quantity takeoffs.
• Maintain organized drawing files and adhere to drafting standards.
• Perform basic technical calculations and assist with project reports.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure timely deliverables for municipal and government clients.
