Job summary

East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy (EBASE) in Oakland, CA, seeks a Civic Engagement Director to lead civic engagement, electoral, and power-building strategies across Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The role coordinates voter outreach, field programs, endorsements, and staff development to advance organizational goals and long-term power-building.

The position reports to the Executive Director and may supervise campaign coordinators, field staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of organizing leadership experience in worker organizing and campaigns.
• Experience leading civic engagement, electoral, or community organizing programs.
• Ability to manage staff, consultants, volunteers, and coalitions.
• Strong understanding of East Bay politics, racial and economic justice issues, labor and community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee civic engagement power-building strategies in the East Bay, including Concord, Contra Costa, Oakland, and Alameda County.
• Coordinate with campaign teams to set annual civic engagement goals and workplans.
• Manage endorsement processes and supervise field teams.
• Provide leadership on compliance, budgeting, FPPC reporting, and fundraising support.
• Lead trainings and develop staff through ongoing education and retreats.
