Close Up Foundation in Arlington, VA is seeking a Program Instructor to lead civic education for middle and high school students. You will guide daily program components, conduct site visits in Washington, D.C., and occasionally travel to New York City, Philadelphia, and other historic sites for day trips.

The role requires delivering engaging lessons, managing a 25-student workshop weekly, and facilitating respectful discourse among diverse groups. A Bachelor's degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, history, education, social science, or related field.
• Proven public speaking skills, showcased through a brief teaching sample during the interview.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse student groups.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to dynamic program requirements.
• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer.
• Passage of a post-offer criminal background check according to federal regulations for working with students.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily program components for groups of students from across the United States.
• Guide students through lessons and site visits in the D.C. area and other locations.
• Chair a workshop of about 25 students weekly, fostering issue-centered discussions.
• Visit historical sites, museums, and government institutions; meet policy experts and officials.
• Maintain a supportive environment and facilitate respectful discourse across views.
