Qualifications

• Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: Two years of professional experience in public relations, public affairs, public information, editorial, newspaper, magazine, radio, television, social media, digital engagement, advertising, marketing or similar work.
• Education Substitution: Master’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience.
• Experience substitution: Possession of a Master’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops publicity releases of department's events, programs and activities for print, broadcast, and online media; prepares weekly lists of departmental activities and transmits to publicity outlets; prepares publications.
• Coordinates review of online coverage, maintains a file of press clippings, and maintains publicity mailing lists.
• Prepares administrative studies and reports with data; edits publicity material and writes press releases.
• Attends meetings of the commission and executive staff; reports to department head or division.
• Formulates and carries out a public information program; distributes publicity releases; posts social media announcements and updates websites.
• Makes regular contact with the public and external organizations to explain policy and procedures about facilities and programs.
• Interprets and coordinates policy relating to publicizing facilities and programs; recommends new methods.
• Coordinates design and production quality for art work across posters, brochures, and signs.
