Job summary

The City of Cheyenne’s Engineering Department is seeking a City Engineer/City Surveyor to lead surveying operations, oversee land surveys, and manage right-of-way acquisitions in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This exempt, full-time role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to coordinate with city staff and elected officials.

You will direct the surveying team, review maps and plats, prepare legal descriptions, support GIS data work, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications

  • Five Years of responsible surveying experience.
  • Registration as a professional Land Surveyor in the State of Wyoming or ability to acquire registration within six (6) months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Wyoming driver’s license.
  • A bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or a closely related field or equivalent training and experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, evaluate, and direct or supervise the functions and activities of City surveying.
  • Serve as technical advisor to the City Engineer, Mayor, and City Council on survey related matters.
  • Review and process tract maps, parcel maps, lot line adjustments, grants of easement, and street rights-of-way for recondition.
