Gfoat in Town of Texas, WI is seeking a versatile public works worker to support water and wastewater system operations and maintain facilities, while assisting in natural gas system tasks. The role requires physical stamina and reliability for outdoor work in all weather.
The position demands on-call availability, after-hours duties, and the ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and operating heavy equipment. Remote work is not offered.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, assist in operations and maintenance of the City’s water and wastewater system in accordance with TCEQ rules and regulations; participate and assist in operations of a natural gas system in accordance with Railroad Commission of Texas; General functions of public works, perform manual labor tasks; operate a variety of motorized and heavy equipment. Applicants must be available for after-hours duties, must live within five minutes of the City and be able to take on-call status periodically, as well as participate and assist in animal control duties.
Employees will be required to perform heavy manual labor which may include such tasks as digging ditches, lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to seventy-five pounds including,but not limited to, cement bags, sewer pipe, and signposts; walking and/or standing for up toeight hours a day; carrying or throwing shovelfuls of paving material; using tools and equipment
like chain saws and pole saws; operating heavy machinery, such as three-axle dump trucks,mowers, rollers, loaders, and back hoes; and working outdoors in all types of local weatherconditions. Being present and in person/on location is essential to this position. Remote work(i.e. working from home) is not permitted.
