Job summary

The City of Douglasville seeks a Commercial Driver Operator to perform heavy equipment operations for the Public Services Department in Douglasville, GA. Responsibilities include operating sanitation trucks and other heavy machinery, conducting vehicle inspections, and coordinating with crew to ensure safe, efficient routes and service delivery.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related work experience.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and sanitation vehicles is preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate sanitation and other heavy equipment to maintain roads, drainage, and services.
• Safely drive collection vehicles on residential and commercial routes.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and report issues.
• Coordinate with crew and supervisees to ensure route efficiency and safety.
• Maintain records of routes, inspections, incidents, and service activities.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and be available for after-hours or emergency needs.
