Job summary

The City of Craig is seeking a City Planner / Planning Director to lead planning, zoning, land use, permits, and related municipal functions. This role interprets the Craig Municipal Code and applicable state and federal regulations to guide development and policy decisions.

The position requires independent judgment, research, and strong communication, coordinating with the City Council, City Administrator, departments, boards, and the public to advance planning projects and compliance across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, rural development, public administration or related field is preferred.
• Progressive local government experience with planning and enforcement is acceptable.
• Ability to read and interpret municipal code, state statutes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports, maps, and presentations for City officials, boards, commissions, agencies, and the public.
• Conduct research and analysis on planning, zoning, land use, property, development, economic development, and municipal issues.
• Maintain professional knowledge of planning practices, municipal regulations, grant requirements, and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Attend training, conferences, meetings, and professional development activities as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Perform other related duties and special assignments as directed by the City Administrator.
