AmeriCorps in Henderson is seeking volunteers to lead STEM, literacy, and social-emotional learning activities at local elementary schools. The role includes mentoring students, supporting community initiatives, and engaging in disaster preparedness education. Volunteers will receive training in youth development and behavior management to ensure quality interactions with students.
This part-time program runs from September 2026 to August 2027 and offers a living allowance and education award upon completion. Individuals aged 17 and up are encouraged to apply.
AmeriCorps Volunteers serve as mentors and facilitators, leading structured STEM, literacy, and social‑emotional learning (SEL) activities at school sites during out‑of‑school time. In addition to supporting education, some Volunteers will engage in community initiatives focused on disaster preparedness and environmental stewardship. These include delivering age‑appropriate emergency readiness education and leading sustainability efforts such as environmental education projects. Volunteers are trained in youth development, behavior management, and content delivery to ensure high‑quality engagement with students. Volunteers serve in underserved schools, helping improve student connection, participation, and confidence in learning.
