Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated City Lead Dispatcher to join our operations team. In this critical role, you will oversee local dispatch activities, coordinate city-wide pickups and deliveries, and lead a team of drivers to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant service. This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of local transportation, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the city dispatch team and local driver fleet.
• Plan and oversee 300-400 daily pickups and deliveries using Cheetah, CLI, and other dispatch software.
• Assign, monitor, and adjust routes based on real-time conditions and service priorities.
• Serve as the primary communication point between drivers, customers, and internal operations.
• Ensure all operations comply with DOT safety regulations and company standards.
• Resolve escalated service issues including delays, breakdowns, and customer concerns.
• Maintain dispatch logs, daily driver schedules, and performance tracking metrics.
• Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to optimize daily workflow.
• Train and mentor new dispatchers and drivers on procedures and local routing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation operations.
• Prior dispatch experience required; LTL leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Proven supervisory or team lead experience in a transportation or trucking environment.
• Ability to manage large driver pools and a variety of vehicle types.
• Strong knowledge of city routing, traffic flow, and the Chicagoland metro area.
• Proficiency with dispatching software (Cheetah, CLI, Motive, Geotab) and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Comfortable working independently under pressure.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related compliance regulations.
• Professional appearance and adherence to a business casual dress code.
• CDL or prior driving experience is a plus but not required.
