Job summary

City of Henderson is seeking an experienced engineering leader to supervise the Engineering Department, directing plan review, site inspection, and project design oversight to ensure quality construction for the City.

The role requires strong supervisory skills, broad knowledge of public works regulations, and the ability to manage budgets and inter-department coordination, while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering principles for design and construction of infrastructure.
• Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances, codes and regulations affecting public works and construction.
• Knowledge of state building code and ability to interpret.
• Supervisory practices including communication, motivation, and performance coaching.
• Budgeting, purchasing policies and inter-departmental coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret laws, codes, plans and blueprints with construction progress.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs the department to respond to construction within the City.
• Oversees plan reviews and specifications for infrastructure integrity.
• Supervises design criteria, cost estimates, and contract payments; sets work schedules.
• Coordinates capital improvements engineering design and regulatory compliance.
• Ensures compliance with NPDES permits and conducts field visits for quality control.
• Advises management and stakeholders on technical and policy matters.
• Manages department operations including budgeting and inter-department coordination.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
