Job summary

The City of Pocatello seeks a City Engineer to direct the Engineering Department in the design, construction, and records management of the City’s infrastructure and capital improvement projects. This management role oversees consultants, contractors, and staff on engineering design, construction, surveying, mapping, inspection, and contract compliance.

The position requires licensure as a Professional Engineer in Idaho, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to supervise

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering required.
Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Idaho.
Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Directs Engineering staff in planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure projects and capital improvements.
Oversees compliance with local, state, and federal engineering regulations.
Serves as the City’s designated Floodplain Administrator.
Evaluates subdivision and site development proposals for engineering and code compliance.
Coordinates projects with multiple funding sources and manages procurement and contracts.
Prepares and manages departmental budgets and project reporting.
Coordinates GIS integration with Engineering operations.
Responds to inquiries on floodplain management and elevations.
