Job summary

The City of Bryan's Engineering Services Division seeks a seasoned manager to plan, organize, and oversee professional, technical, and administrative staff across all programs. Under broad supervision from the Public Works Director, you will coordinate complex engineering projects and ensure timely delivery of infrastructure initiatives.

You will review plans, manage development proposals, capital improvements, and construction inspections, and serve as a liaison with City Council and the public

Responsibilities

  • Manages and participates in the development and implementation of engineering and traffic services goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
  • With assistance from subordinate supervisors, oversees the work of engineers performing design of infrastructure, engineering review, and project management of development projects.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws, including: making employment decisions regarding hiring/termination; assigning major projects and reviewing work to ensure quality and timely completion; assisting in staff development and training; approving time; evaluating performance and addressing performance concerns; meeting with employees and management staff to identify and resolve problems; and performing other personnel actions to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained.
  • Directs, coordinates, and manages the planning, organization, coordination, control and completion of development proposals.
  • Reviews and approves construction plans for subdivision development.
  • Reviews, manages, and presents Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan.
  • Supervises construction inspection of public infrastructure required for development.
  • Provides recommendations and assists in capital improvement planning for the City with respect to streets, storm water, water and sanitary sewer.
  • Sets engineering standards of design and construction for streets and storm sewer.
  • Provides interface and communication for the department with management, boards, City Council, and the general public.
  • Addresses concerns from the public with regard to streets, drainage, and floodplain.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Hiring Pay Rate: $140,000-$170,000/year (depending on qualifications)
