Position Overview
Pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers, supporting the selling process.
Essential Functions
- Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles (and triples where applicable) and/or straight trucks.
- Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
- Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies from tractors and trailers.
- Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and ropes.
- Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
- Verify and complete documentation and reports.
- Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
- Collect freight charges via cash or checks and maintain documentation.
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
- Communicate with customers regarding pick-up and delivery needs and seek additional business.
- Provide internal and external customer service.
- Solicit additional business from customers and refer leads to sales.
- May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
- May perform duties of road driver or dock employee when necessary.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications
- Possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements (automatic transmission restriction allowed).
- At least one year of recent experience or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
- Meet all DOT regulatory requirements under section 391 of the FMC regulations.
- Operate Long Combination Vehicles (LCV) in specified states, meeting qualification standards.
- Ability to count and perform basic math.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift/carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, and perform physical activities like bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing.
- Follow instructions and complete training.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- Drive in various weather conditions and on different roads.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials.
- Hours may vary based on operational needs.
- Hazardous Materials endorsement required within 120 days of employment.

Compensation and Benefits
Pay ranges from $30.35 to $35.13 per hour, with additional mileage pay for linehaul duties. Benefits include health, vision, dental insurance, 401(k), bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and more.
