Job summary

Valley Transit in Appleton, Wisconsin, seeks a city bus driver to support daily operations and provide reliable, safe transportation for riders. You will board passengers, collect fares, and ensure on-time service while maintaining safety checks and reporting ridership data.

Qualified applicants possess a Wisconsin Class B CDL with the P endorsement and a Federal Medical Card, plus the ability to work with the public, follow routes, and uphold ADA requirements.

Qualifications

• Defensive driving knowledge and ability to operate buses safely in all weather conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and relay directions clearly.
• Proficiency with radio communications and bus dispatch systems.
• Ability to read street maps and route information.
• Strong decision making and sound judgment in stressful or emergency situations.
• Ability to follow ADA service requirements and assist riders with mobility needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate city buses and board/discharge passengers at stops, collecting fares.
• Perform routine safety inspections prior to operation and after shifts.
• Maintain radio contact for safe and timely arrivals and departures.
• Record ridership data and daily fare totals.
