Job summary

The City of Broken Arrow is seeking a qualified attorney to provide litigation support and legal services to the City Attorney and city leadership. This role involves representing the City in civil matters, preparing for depositions and hearings, and advising officials to minimize litigation risk.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited School of Law is required.
1–3 years of related experience preferred.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license (Class D).
Oklahoma Bar License and admission to practice in Federal Court for the Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts, plus the 10th Circuit.

Responsibilities

Represent the City in civil litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
Study evidence, interview witnesses, assist in depositions.
Advise City officials on legal matters to minimize litigation risk.
Research various civil litigation issues (e.g., §1983, service of process, contracts, property, tort).
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and responses to discovery.
Assist in post-trial appellate litigation, including briefs and oral arguments.
Maintain professional knowledge and perform other duties as assigned.
