Duties include climbing ladders, pruning trees, and following safety rules while handling tools and machinery. Candidates should have at least 1 month of citrus or date work experience, a valid state driver’s license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 month field experience in citrus or date work; written verification required.
• Valid state driver’s license and Class B physical exam; must be registered as an FLCE driver.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently; work bent or stooped positions; climb ladders; walk and stand extensively; not color blind.
• Willingness to wear safety gear: hard hats, gloves, sleeves, knee pads, and eye protection.

Responsibilities

• Harvest citrus, olives and dates using color and size requirements.
• Climb regular and 3‑point ladders to pick fruit, using proper shears.
• Cut fruit with hand shear, place in a sack carried on the front of the body, and empty the sack into a bin as instructed by the supervisor.
• Walk around, under, and inside trees; prune and hoe citrus, date, and olive trees with shears, loppers, and hoes.
• Plant citrus.
• Perform maintenance: clean and repair irrigation canals, weed, thin trees, and remove trash.
• Operate a forklift or reach lift to reach heights up to 55 feet, wearing a safety harness when in a basket or platform.
• De‑thorn date palms using a curved knife while standing on the ground or on a raised platform.
• Follow supervisor instructions for tree work and harvesting.
