Central School District 51 seeks an CIS Unified Activities Coach to instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for team success. The coach will model character development, self-discipline, and pride in achievement among student athletes.

The role emphasizes safe supervision, adherence to district and IESA rules, and mentoring players to foster trust, respect, and citizenship during practices and events.

Qualifications

  • Has previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and openness to new theories.
  • Experience working with students with special needs and ability to provide inclusive coaching environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Follows the District's approved policies.
  • Knows and abides by existing systems and IESA regulations.
  • Schedules events for the season, transportation and requirements for each event.
  • Assists in preparation for practices and adheres to facility times.
  • Mentors athletes to develop character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  • Provides guidance and safeguards for participants during practices, games, and travel.
  • Provides training rules and regulations of the sport to participants.
  • Follows injury, medical, and emergency protocols.
  • Completes paperwork on athletic injuries and submits to district office within 24 hours.

Job description

Title: CIS Unified Activities Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
  • Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  • Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical
  • Demonstrates experience working with students with special need and the ability to provide inclusive, supportive coaching environments.
JOB GOAL

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

2. Follows the District's approved policies.

3. Has knowledge of existing systems and IESA regulations and consistently abides by them.

4. Schedules events for the season, transportation and requirements for each event.

5. Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.

6. Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

7. Provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant by his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling,.

8. Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.

9. Follows programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.

10. Completes paperwork on all athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to district office within 24 hours.
