Job summary

ECPI University seeks an experienced Software Development faculty member to teach day-time courses at the Newport News campus. The role emphasizes practical, hands-on instruction and small class sizes to leverage industry experience.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in Computer Information Science with substantial programming and database experience, and a commitment to student-focused outcomes and integrity.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Information Science or Master’s with 18 graduate hours in the discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Ph.D. in Computer Information Science preferred.
• 3-5 years industry experience required; 8-10 years preferred.
• Programming experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, PHP.
• Database experience with MS SQL Server or Oracle and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Teach day-time courses at ECPI University's Newport News campus.
• Deliver hands-on, student-centered instruction in software development.

Compensation: $1,499 – $1,801 per course section. Compensation is determined by discipline, credential level, and course type. Ranges reflect good faith estimates based on current pay practices.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Master’s degree in Computer Information Science or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline from a regionally accredited educational institution. Ph.D. in Computer Information Science preferred.
• 3-5 years industry experience required; 8-10 years preferred.
• Programming experience: One or more of these languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, PHP.
• Database experience: Either MS SQL Server or Oracle, and SQL (Structured Query Language).
• 2 years teaching or presentation experience a plus.
