Job summary

Collier County's Headquarters Regional Library is hiring a Library Specialist I to support daily circulation operations and help visitors with research and program information.

The role includes shelving, processing materials, handling fines and payments, managing patron records, inter-library loan requests, and providing courteous customer service.

A high school diploma or GED is required, with six months of related experience preferred; fingerprinting is required; weekend hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related experience preferred.
• Fingerprinting required.
• New employees are hired at or near the entry point shown, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Implements all circulation policies and procedures; operates the circulation desk.
• Checks books in and out; collects fines; issues library cards; coordinates inter-library loan services.
• Shelves books and AV materials; reads shelves; keeps shelves in order; restocks inventories.
• Provides customer service to patrons; assists with research, references, and information resources; guides patrons to resources.
• Processes incoming/outgoing mail; handles periodicals; repairs books or coordinates repairs with vendors.
• Designs displays and assists with programs; answers calls; enrolls patrons in programs.
