JOB TITLE: Circulation Library Clerk, Grade 14
LOCATION: Headquarters Library

SALARY: $995 per month (Includes some benefits)
HOURS: 20 hours per week
Monday, Wednesday,Friday 8:45-1:00 and every other weekend (Sat. 9:30-5:15, Sun 12:30-5:15)
(Note:Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes may be asked to work othertimes)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical or public service experience
Must complete pre-employment testing.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Provides exceptional customer service to all agegroups while assisting patrons with questions in person, over the phone, orelectronically
- Assists in programs to promote library card sign upand community outreach
- Assists with all circulation duties, library cardregistration, patron account services and collection maintenance
- Provides assistance with the use of photocopymachines, payment kiosks, self-check machines and computers
- Works with a variety of software and libraryautomation programs
- Communicates ideas and concerns to the supervisor
- Contributes to departmental meetings and departmentalworkflow by making suggestions and sharing ideas
- Regularly checks email, Intranet and library websitefor new information
- Remains aware of security and safety concerns takingappropriate action as needed
- Evaluates returned materials for damage, missingpieces and overall condition
- Performs basic readers’ advisory and informationassistance, material retrieval and places hold requests
- Responsible for special department projects asassigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical or public service experience
- Must enjoy working with the public of all ages
- Creative, flexible and organized with good timemanagement skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
- General knowledge of the procedures, practices andequipment of a public library
- Comfortable and proficient using technology includingexperience with PCs, Internet, and Microsoft Office and mobile devices
- Knowledge of popular books, pop culture and currentevents
- Ability to alphabetize and arrange items numerically
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skillsthat display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, a sense of humor, andthe ability to interface with people from all backgrounds and age groups
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, take direction and workindependently or in a team environment
