JOB TITLE: Circulation Library Clerk , Grade 14
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: July 1, 2025
SALARY: $995 (Includes some benefits)

HOURS: 20 hours per week

Weeks A & C:Sunday 12:30-5:15 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:00-8:15 pm

Weeks B & D:Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:00-8:15 pm; Saturday 9:30-5:15 pm

(Note:Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes may be asked to work othertimes)



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical or public service experience. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all age groups whileassisting patrons with questions in person, over the phone, orelectronically
  • Assists in programs to promote library card sign up and communityoutreach
  • Assists with all circulation duties, library card registration,patron account services and collection maintenance
  • Provides assistance with the use of photocopy machines, paymentkiosks, self-check machines and computers
  • Works with a variety of software and library automationprograms
  • Communicates ideas and concerns to the supervisor
  • Contributes to departmental meetings and departmental workflow bymaking suggestions and sharing ideas
  • Regularly checks email, Intranet, and library website for newinformation
  • Remains aware of security and safety concerns taking appropriateaction as needed
  • Evaluates returned materials for damage, missing pieces, andoverall condition
  • Performs basic readers’ advisory and information assistance,material retrieval and places hold requests
  • Responsible for special department projects as assigned


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Any combination of education andexperience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical orpublic service experience
  • Must enjoy working with the public of all ages
  • Creative, flexible, and organized with good time managementskills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
  • General knowledge of the procedures, practices, and equipment of apublic library
  • Comfortable and proficient using technology including experiencewith PCs, Internet, and Microsoft Office and mobile devices
  • Knowledge of popular books, pop culture and current events
  • Ability to alphabetize and arrange items numerically
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display apositive attitude, cultural sensitivity, a sense of humor, and the ability tointerface with people from all backgrounds and age groups
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, take direction and work independentlyor in a team environment
