Job summary

The St. Louis Public Library’s Cabanne Branch is seeking a Circulation Assistant. This full-time role involves helping customers register for library cards, check out and return items, handle payments, and assist with the library’s equipment.

You’ll restock shelves and participate in opening and closing procedures, supporting a welcoming, informative environment for a diverse community. Ideal candidates are friendly, patient, organized, and able to multitask while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

In this role you will:

Assist customers with library card registration and checking out and returning materials.

Assist in preparation, delivery, and receipt of Library materials; receive payment from customers.

Provide assistance to customers with Library equipment.

Restock and shelve materials, including shelf-reading, as necessary.

Assist in opening and closing the location.

You will need to be:

Friendly, patient, and able to multitask while assisting customers.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.

Capable of effectively providing information and responding to questions from customers and staff.

Flexible, positive, and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.

You will need to have:

Mon.: 11:45am - 8:15pm, Tues.-Thur.: 9:45am - 6:15pm, alternating Fri. & Sat. 8:45am - 5:15pm, occasional Sunday: 12:45 - 5:15pm, hours subject to change.
