Job summary

Watertown Regional Medical Center in Watertown, Wisconsin is seeking an RN - Surgery to provide direct perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role supports surgical interventions across all ages and requires strong assessment, planning, and patient education throughout the perioperative process.

The RN-Surgery will administer medications, document care, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• RN license in the state of practice is required.
• BLS certification required within policy timeframe.
• ACLS certification required within policy timeframe.
• PALS certification required within timeframe specified in facility policy.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient-centered nursing care based on established standards of care and the nursing process.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policy.
• Documents all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately.
• Monitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition to healthcare team, patient, and family.
• Coordinates and collaborates with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
• Participates in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals as needed.
• Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients throughout the surgical experience.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required within timeframe specified in facility policy)

Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred
