Job summary

The Operating Room RN at OakLeaf Surgical Hospital in Wisconsin coordinates perioperative nursing care and collaborates with the surgical team to ensure a safe, efficient experience for patients undergoing surgery.

Responsibilities include administering medications, maintaining asepsis, monitoring equipment, and providing post-anesthesia care handoffs. The role requires ADN, Wisconsin RN license, BLS, and completion of ACLS/PALS within six months of hire; OR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required.
• An ADN from an accredited nursing program is required.
• Current RN licensure in Wisconsin is required.
• BLS certification is required on hire.
• ACLS and PALS certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Previous operating room experience is preferred.
• Must possess a cell phone compatible with the organization’s secure messaging system.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients’ rights and provide compassionate, individualized care.
• Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of patient and organization.
• Assess health problems and plan, implement, and evaluate care with the team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-surgical care.
• Monitor equipment and ensure asepsis and safety standards.
• Document care concisely and promptly.
• Respond to emergencies using appropriate interventions.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure continuous care.
• Prepare OR for procedures and assist with positioning.
• Coordinate hand-offs to PACU nurses.
