Role Description

The Circulating Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based at HUNTINGDON VALLEY SURGERY CENTER in Huntingdon Valley, PA. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing nursing care in the operating room, including preparing the surgical suite, verifying patient identity and procedure, and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning. The Circulating Nurse collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and other perioperative staff, maintains sterile technique, documents intraoperative care, and advocates for patient safety throughout the procedure. Daily tasks include monitoring patient status, supporting the surgical team, handling specimens, and assisting with patient transfer before and after surgery. The role also involves adhering to clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements while contributing to an efficient, respectful, and teamwork-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Surgical Nursing and Operating Room nursing, including safe patient positioning and intraoperative care.
• Strong Perioperative practice experience, with knowledge of pre-, intra-, and post-operative processes and safety protocols.
• Solid foundation in Nursing and Medicine, including assessment skills, clinical judgment, and understanding of common surgical procedures.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania (or eligibility for licensure) and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Previous operating room or ambulatory surgery center experience strongly preferred; CNOR certification is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, communicate clearly, and respond calmly in urgent situations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, maintain professional conduct, and participate in ongoing education and training.
