Job summary

Shermco Industries in Irving, TX seeks a Circuit Breaker Shop Technician to work on low, medium and high voltage switchgear, including teardown, rebuild and testing across brands.

Role involves travel up to 20% for on-site testing, hands-on repair, and reading schematics; requires HS diploma and experience; PEARL cert desirable.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED; prefer electro-mechanical training from trade school, apprenticeship or armed services.
• Previous experience withrebuilding, repairing, and retrofitting circuit breakers.
• 480V to 15KV circuit breaker experience desired.
• PEARL breaker certification desirable.
• Prefer testing skills and understand fundamental electrical and mechanical testing procedures.
• Experience at an OEM breaker manufacturer a plus.
• Strong mechanical skills and experience such as industrial mechanical engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, or diesel equipment will be beneficial.
• Working knowledge of power systems, power circuit breakers and other switchgear apparatus desirable.
• Experience at correctly using tools and testing equipment including Megger, digital multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, Oil Dielectric strength tester, multiamps relay tester, primary & secondary injection set, cable fault detector, & oscilloscope desirable
• Prefer experience reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Low-voltage Switchgear up to 3000A, Air Circuit Breakers ATS, 480V, 60Hz and 400V, 50 Hz.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to stay Drug-Free; you will be required to pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
• Must have an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check.

• Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.
• Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Must be willing to travel around 20% of the time

Pay Range
