Job summary

The City of Shawnee, KS is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform field inspections and manage CIP projects. This technical role ensures adherence to City standards and may include stormwater, traffic observation and data collection.

Incumbents report to the Inspection Manager, collaborate with CIP project managers and engineers, and receive benefits such as cell phone allowance, PPE, and jeans allowance. The position offers career progression from I to Senior based on experience.

Qualifications

• Career Development position with I, II and Senior levels based on experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent with coursework in construction or civil engineering technology.
• Commercial Driver’s License Class B or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections for streets, curbs, storm sewer, subgrade and concrete work to ensure compliance with City standards.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and pay estimates for construction projects.
• Coordinate safety procedures and traffic control per MUTCD on assigned projects.
• Perform quality control testing of concrete, asphalt and soils.
• Assist in design phase reviews and provide technical assistance to City departments.
