Job description

About Holy Trinity Edmonds

Holy Trinity Edmonds is a growing Anglican parish in Edmonds, Washington, serving the communities of North King and South Snohomish Counties. We are a parish of the Diocese of Cascadia within the Anglican Church in North America.

We embrace the breadth of the Anglican tradition while remaining firmly committed to the authority of Scripture, the historic creeds, and the principles articulated in the Jerusalem Declaration. Our parish seeks to cultivate a culture marked by humility, hospitality, spiritual formation, mission, and joyful participation in God’s work of renewing all things through Jesus Christ.

Over the past several years, Holy Trinity has experienced sustained growth and now serves between 250-300 worshipers each weekend. We believe God is calling our parish to participate more fully in the church planting mission of the Diocese of Cascadia by helping establish new Anglican congregations in the cities and neighborhoods that surround us.

Position Type

Full-time, 12–24 month residency with the expectation of planting and leading a future mission congregation in North King or South Snohomish County.

Our Vision

Holy Trinity Edmonds believes that North King and South Snohomish Counties need more faithful Anglican churches. While many historic liturgical congregations in our region are aging, declining, or closing their doors, we see a growing hunger for rooted, sacramental, gospel-centered Christian communities.

We believe every community deserves a local parish that proclaims the gospel, worships faithfully, forms disciples, cares for its neighbors, and stands as a visible outpost of the Kingdom of God. Rather than drawing people away from their neighborhoods, we hope to establish churches within them—congregations deeply embedded in the places where people live, work, and raise their families.

As part of the Diocese of Cascadia’s commitment to church planting and mission, Holy Trinity Edmonds is seeking to develop and deploy church planters who will establish new worshiping communities and mission congregations throughout North King and South Snohomish Counties.

Our goal is not simply to plant a single church, but to cultivate a culture of church planting that contributes to the growth of the Diocese of Cascadia throughout the Pacific Northwest. Over the next five years, we hope to see multiple congregations established in close geographic proximity, sharing a common commitment to Anglican faith and practice while serving distinct local communities.

Because of this vision, we are seeking a church planter who desires to plant as part of a team rather than as an isolated entrepreneur. We are looking for someone who sees church planting as a collaborative endeavor and who is excited about helping build a culture of multiplication that extends beyond a single congregation.

Residency Overview

The Resident Church Planter will serve as a member of the Holy Trinity clergy team while receiving training, mentorship, and practical experience through Holy Trinity Edmonds, Mission Cascadia, and the Diocese of Cascadia.

Over a one- to two-year period, the resident will participate in parish leadership, receive coaching from experienced clergy and church planters, develop a contextualized planting strategy, and gather a launch team for a future mission congregation within approximately fifteen miles of Holy Trinity Edmonds.

The resident will work toward the establishment of a new Anglican mission congregation in partnership with Holy Trinity Edmonds and the Diocese of Cascadia. Consistent with our vision for church planting, new congregations may remain closely connected to Holy Trinity for a season as they develop local leadership, financial sustainability, and congregational health before eventually becoming autonomous parishes within the Diocese of Cascadia.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the Holy Trinity ministry team.
  • Participate fully in the sacramental, pastoral, and missional life of the parish.
  • Receive coaching and mentorship from clergy and experienced church planters.
  • Learn systems related to parish leadership, discipleship, governance, stewardship, and ministry development.
  • Identify and engage a target community for a future church plant.
  • Develop a contextualized church planting strategy.
  • Recruit, disciple, and lead a launch team.
  • Preach, teach, and provide pastoral care.
  • Build relationships with community leaders, organizations, and local residents.
  • Work toward the launch of a new worshiping community or mission congregation.
Who We Are Looking For
  • Demonstrates humility, emotional intelligence, and spiritual maturity.
  • Possesses a clear sense of call to church planting and missionary ministry.
  • Desires to serve in the Pacific Northwest for the long term.
  • Thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is committed to the doctrine and mission of the Anglican Church in North America and the Diocese of Cascadia.
  • Embraces the breadth of the Anglican tradition while remaining firmly grounded in the authority of Scripture and the Jerusalem Declaration.
  • Is excited by the prospect of helping establish not just one congregation, but a culture of church planting that contributes to the growth of the Diocese of Cascadia for generations to come.
  • Possesses the relational and leadership gifts necessary to gather people, build trust, and cultivate healthy Christian community.
  • Has completed or is willing to complete a church planters assessment.
  • We are less interested in celebrity, platform, or entrepreneurial ambition than we are in character, faithfulness, teachability, and a genuine love for people. We believe healthy churches are planted by healthy leaders, and we are seeking a resident who demonstrates humility, emotional maturity, spiritual depth, and a servant-hearted approach to ministry.
Why This Residency?

This is not a “go plant a church by yourself” opportunity.

We believe church planting is healthiest when it occurs within the life of the Church, under spiritual authority, in meaningful partnership with other clergy and congregations, and with the support of a diocese committed to mission. The Resident Church Planter will be formed within a growing parish, supported by diocesan leadership, and invited into a collaborative effort to see new Anglican congregations established throughout our region.

Compensation and Support

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and ordination status.

The anticipated compensation package includes:

  • Total compensation (salary and housing allowance) of $65,000–$80,000 annually.
  • Health care reimbursement through the parish’s Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA).
  • Housing allowance and overall compensation will be structured based on family circumstances, ministry experience, and residency responsibilities.
  • Continuing education and ministry development opportunities.
  • Ongoing coaching and mentorship.
  • Opportunities for preaching, teaching, and leadership development.
  • Practical church planting experience within a healthy and growing parish.
  • Partnership with Holy Trinity Edmonds, Mission Cascadia, and the Diocese of Cascadia.
  • Support in developing a church planting strategy, launch team, and mission plan.
