Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

SUMMARY:

The Church Life & Operations Director/Pastor serves as member of the senior staff team. In addition, this role provides mentorship, coaching, and support to the staff responsible for next generation ministries (birth-young adults), information technology, property/facilities/maintenance, financial oversight and budget development (8 direct reports). This role is deeply relational, administratively strong, and spiritually grounded.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Our client, The Church Next Door, is a growing, non-denominational church in the greater Columbus area with a clear mission: Moving People Closer to God. Rooted in "the Jesus Way," the church is committed to meeting people right where they are and walking with them as they take their next step in faith.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Coaching

  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports including: Director Kids Next Door Ministry, Assistant Teens Next Door Ministry, Custodians, Assistant Building Facilitator, IT Director/Assistant Pastor, Director of Communications, and Bookkeeper.
  • Serve on the senior staff team, collaborating with teammates to ensure alignment with the church's vision and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with the Senior Pastor to cultivate a culture of discipleship, operational excellence, and collaborative teamwork.

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Collaborate with direct reports to set annual goals, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Ensure ministries and operations are functioning efficiently and in alignment with church values and mission.
  • Identify and resolve gaps in processes or structures that hinder ministry effectiveness.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication between staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Encourage teamwork and foster shared goals.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning retreats, and strategy sessions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Commitment to the church's statement of faith and Staff Covenant
  • A committed follower of Christ, able to share a personal testimony of the transforming power of Jesus Christ in their life
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years' experience in leadership, operations, and/or ministry/pastoral roles (church experience helpful but not required; marketplace experience is valued)
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff and developing teams
  • Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and deploying staff and volunteers
  • Proven ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively
  • Experience managing complex details including scheduling, communication, budgeting, facilities management and development, program development, church-wide events, and reporting
  • Experience working with Boards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Church management software (CCB), church texting software (Gloo and PastorsLine) preferred
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment, helping to create an atmosphere of open and honest communication to build healthy working relationships in which mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to Christian love for one another are paramount.

  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments
