Summary

The Church Life & Operations Director/Pastor serves as a member of the senior staff team. This role provides mentorship, coaching, and support to staff responsible for next generation ministries (birth-young adults), information technology, property/facilities/maintenance, financial oversight, and budget development (8 direct reports). The role is deeply relational, administratively strong, and spiritually grounded.

About The Role

Our client, The Church Next Door, is a growing, non-denominational church in the greater Columbus area with a mission: Moving People Closer to God. Rooted in "the Jesus Way," the church is committed to meeting people where they are and walking with them as they take their next step in faith.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Coaching
  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports including: Director Kids Next Door Ministry, Assistant Teens Next Door Ministry, Custodians, Assistant Building Facilitator, IT Director/Assistant Pastor, Director of Communications, and Bookkeeper.
  • Serve on the senior staff team, collaborating to ensure alignment with the church's vision and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with the Senior Pastor to cultivate a culture of discipleship, operational excellence, and teamwork.
Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Collaborate with direct reports to set annual goals, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Ensure ministries and operations function efficiently and align with church values and mission.
  • Identify and resolve gaps in processes or structures that hinder effectiveness.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Facilitate clear communication between staff and volunteers.
  • Encourage teamwork and shared goals.
  • Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and strategy sessions.
Other Duties

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the church's statement of faith and Staff Covenant.
  • A committed follower of Christ with a personal testimony of transformation.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of leadership, operations, and/or ministry/pastoral experience (church experience helpful but not required; marketplace experience valued).
  • Experience supervising staff and developing teams.
  • Proven recruitment, development, and deployment of staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively.
  • Experience managing scheduling, communication, budgeting, facilities, programs, events, and reporting.
  • Experience working with Boards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; church management software (CCB), texting software (Gloo, PastorsLine) preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, fostering open, honest communication and mutual respect.
  • Commitment to the church's mission and values.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments.
