Position Title: Christmas Driver

Reports To: Business Operations Manager

Status: Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt

Work Hours: Monday through Saturday – some split shifts up to 40 hours per week.

Approximate Start Date: November 17th through December 24th.

Scope of Position

The Christmas Driver transports bellringing staff and equipment to designated locations and is available to make other pick-ups and deliveries related to Christmas activities as needed.

General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the vehicle is properly fueled at the start of each shift.
  • Ensure Salvation Army phone is kept charged and available during working hours.
  • Drive Salvation Army vehicle to transport Bell Ringers and equipment to daily scheduled locations.
  • Ensure that all Bell Ringers have a fresh kettle, kettle slip, apron, bell and other necessary materials.
  • Regularly check bell ringing locations to be sure Bell Ringers are following policies and expectations.
  • Pick up kettles and Bell Ringers at the end of bell ringing shifts (times may vary) and transport them to the designated location.
  • Ensure all equipment is removed from vehicles each night and prepared for use the next day.
  • Keep Kettle Coordinator informed of unmanned locations and other issues as they occur.
  • Available to pick up other Christmas-related items including, but not limited to, toys from collection locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/Or Work Experience
  • High school Diploma or equivalent
Qualifications & Skills
  • Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license
  • Must pass The Salvation Army’s in house online driver training and Motor Vehicles Records check
  • Ability to read Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets
  • Ability and willingness to keep information confidential
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to understand, use and respond to written information.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers
  • Ability to reach overhead
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to perform all tasks as assigned
