Job summary

Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO seeks a Baseball Head Coach to recruit, train, and lead a Christ-centered program. The role emphasizes character development, teamwork, discipline, and community engagement.

You will collaborate with MBTS and Spurgeon College staff to direct the baseball program, plan tryouts, manage logistics, and ensure student-athlete academic and athletic eligibility while maintaining high standards of sportsmanship.

Qualifications

• :Christian with high integrity and relationship with God
• We require leadership experience coaching at college level
• Bachelor’s Degree and strong communication skills
• Familiar with Microsoft Office tools and recruiting websites
• Ability to manage travel, budgets, and game logistics

Responsibilities

• Display Christ-like character at all times.
• Recruit, train, and lead a competitive Baseball program.
• Follow MBTS/Spurgeon College policies and mission.
• Plan, organize, and direct the Spurgeon College Baseball program.
• Judge players’ talents to strategize and improve performance.
• Manage budgets, POs, expenses, and receipts.
• Instruct and demonstrate skills for development.
• Ensure eligibility and proper conduct of athletes.
• Organize tryouts, inform participants, and publish season rules.
• Arrange uniforms, supplies, and equipment purchases.
• Schedule transportation for away games and events.
• Submit rosters and season statistics in a timely manner.
• Ensure forms and medicals are current; student-athlete eligibility.
• Oversee facilities, gear storage, and post-season tasks.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on camps and summer practice.
• Host parent meetings and organize volunteer support teams.
• Create a safe, inclusive environment for student growth.
• Collaborate with athletic trainer on safety and injury prevention.
• Model sportsmanship toward opponents, fans, and staff.
