Job summary

Bank Street School for Children is seeking a Chorus Assistant for its Lower School and Upper School programs. The role supports three weekly rehearsals plus January performances, preparing materials in advance and leading vocal parts for elementary and middle school singers.

The position requires strong music literacy, a collaborative teacher; evenings are required for performances. The assistant works with the Music Department during a full schedule of rehearsals and performances at Bank Street.

Qualifications

• Strong music literacy with ability to read and learn vocal and accompaniment parts.
• Ability to lead, demonstrate, and conduct vocal parts with K-8 singers.
• Willingness to collaborate as part of a teaching team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and study materials prior to rehearsals, including learning vocal and accompaniment parts.
• Lead, demonstrate, and conduct vocal parts for assigned chorus groups.
• Set up display and audio systems and prep piano before rehearsals; support students' performance during rehearsals.
• Attend all weekly rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.
